Holgalidays: HM the King of Thailand

In 2007, I took a series of Holga pictures showing the holiday decorations in various places in Bangkok. This picture shows portraits of HM the King on one of the buildings. We start our holiday season here with the birthday of the King. This year is a special year because the King marked his 84th birthday marking the completion of his 7 cycles. Every 12 years is a cycle because there are 12 animal symbols in the asian astrological calendar. December 5th is also celebrated as Father’s day in Thailand. So far this holiday season is off to a good start. The weather had become much milder and it has not been raining. Best of all, the flood waters in the different areas affected by the flood had started to recede with some villagers starting their clean up. Of a lot of relief for me is that my drinking water supplier finally started delivering drinking water again. So things are going back to normal little by little and this is something to be very thankful for.
